Reports have emerged stating that fugitive underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim has been admitted to a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, with suspicions of poisoning. However, Pakistan has not officially confirmed these reports yet.

It is believed that Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai blasts and one of India’s most wanted criminals, has been residing in Pakistan for many years. The Mumbai bombings resulted in the loss of over 250 lives and left thousands injured.

According to Indian authorities, they suspect that Ibrahim is living in Karachi’s upscale Clifton area. However, Pakistan has consistently denied his presence in the country.

In January 2023, Ibrahim’s nephew revealed to the National Investigation Agency that he had remarried in Pakistan and resides in Karachi with his family. The statement included details about his second wife, three daughters, and one son.

The NIA has also claimed that Dawood Ibrahim’s criminal organization, known as the D-Company, has a specialized unit that carries out acts of terror, targeting prominent individuals such as political leaders and businesspeople.

Despite his fugitive status, Dawood Ibrahim and the D-Company continue to control various criminal activities in Mumbai, including drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and counterfeiting, according to the Global Terrorism Index. The report also highlights their connections to global terrorist groups, including al-Qaida.
